This painting shows a special bush medicine plant that grows in Central Australia. Aboriginal women use its leaves to make washing medicine that cleans and soothes the skin. It can also help with flu, body aches, and other sickness.

After heavy rain, the women go out into the bush. They know where to look—on rocky hillsides and scattered outcrops where these plants often grow. Some women can even smell the plant before they see it. They pick the fresh green leaves and prepare the medicine carefully.

This knowledge is passed down from older women to younger ones. Learning to find the plants and make the medicine is part of growing up in remote communities.
