This piece depicts the migration from Saibai Island to Muttee Heads, located on the western side of the Cape York Peninsula. In 1947, people from Saibai moved to Cape York in search of a better future. Various clan groups participated in this journey, including the Koedal (crocodile), Samu (cassowary), and Dhoeybaw (yam leaf) clans. The migration was facilitated by two pearling luggers, the M.V. Millard and the Macoy, which transported the people from Saibai to Muttee Heads.
The artwork features a young boy sitting on a crocodile, symbolizing the deep connection Torres Strait Islanders have with their totemic beliefs and ancestors from an early age, as well as the bond between the stars and the ocean. Additionally, the three cassowaries in the piece represent my connection to the Samu clan through my father.
