This painting depicts Pulampula, an introduced plant which became a resource for Gurindji people. The plant is sometimes known as Kapok Bush (Aerva javanica) and also has the same name as a similar native plant, Newcastelia spodiotricha. The soft, white flowers can be used to fill pillows called tankuj. In the past the flowers were collected in large amounts and used for pillows. Children make toy spears and arrows from the straight stems.
